My academic interest is the field of organic geochemistry, more specifically the biogeochemistry, where the workings of biological systems on Earth is studied through the use of biomarkers. Biomarkers are organic compounds indicative of organic processes or organisms.
Earlier work was done on how bulk stable isotopes ratios are dependent on the isotope ratios within each class of compounds and their relative degradation.
Current work is aimed to find out how the preservation of botanical remains in archaeological sites can be monitored.
My programming skills have come in handy to develop an application, Peacock, that enables me to work with the datasets need for the studies mentioned above.
